Paint Your Own Sock Blank

Sock blanks are loosely knitted sock yarn pieces which can be painted with dyes and heat set to create your own skein of hand-dyed yarn. The yarn we use is 4ply 80% merino & 20% nylon. Using dyes specifically designed for protein-based fibre you will be able to use your own colour palette and artistic skills to create something truly unique to you. Once painted we’ll steam your creations to set the dye. The blank is then frogged (unknitted) into a ball of yarn, ready for you to knit.  PLEASE NOTE: These are not finished socks and when you reknit the yarn the pattern you have painted on the blank WILL NOT be reproduced on your garment. Photos are examples of work undertaken by other fibre artists and are indicative of what is possible. 

Class cost includes: the pre-mixed dyes, gloves, 1 x sock blank. Extra blanks will be available to purchase on the day if you wish to make more than one.
